Background
Designing Decisis was an exercise in restraint and reinvention. From the start, our goal was to build a product that stood apart from the established LexisNexis ecosystem—both visually and experientially. We began by crafting a fresh color palette and a lightweight design library that prioritized clarity, accessibility, and approachability. Each component was refined through multiple rounds of user testing, allowing us to balance visual simplicity with the depth and credibility expected from LexisNexis.

As a free offering for small law practices and law students, Decisis needed to feel intuitive yet trustworthy. Our team focused on creating an interface that simplified complex information, providing an inviting experience that still carried the authority of Lexis+. The result was a product that not only looked distinct but embodied a new design language—one built on refinement, empathy, and trust.
Approach
In developing Decisis, refinement drove every design decision. We worked to separate the product visually from the global LexisNexis library, creating a lightweight, approachable interface. Designed as a free resource for small law practices and law students, Decisis balances simplicity with the reliability and authority users expect from Lexis+.
Impact
Decisis redefined what a LexisNexis product could look like—built with a new color palette, streamlined design library, and a focus on clarity and approachability. Through iterative user testing, we refined the experience for small law firms and law students, resulting in highly positive feedback and strong NPS scores. The outcome was a product praised for its simplicity, trustworthiness, and modern feel.
